Should I Stay or Should I Go?
I'm thinking about moving my blog to another service, things seem to have got a bit quiet here lately, and I'm not sure about the changes planned at 20six. What do you think, should I stay here or move?
Long overdue update
Well, I figured that it was about time I wrote something on here, and since it is 1.10am and I am unable to sleep, there is no better time to do it.
We are now back in England, having arrived safely on December 27th; our stuff arrived by boat in two batches a couple of weeks later. Everything was fine, apart from a couple of broken cups and some cracked CD cases.
It's weird being back. I find myself in the unusual position of missing the other place, which, considering how homesick I was over there is pretty astounding.
One of the things is that I had forgotten about is how expensive things are here, everything is almost double the price and I can't believe it costs us SIX POUNDS for a fifteen minute train journey. We had taken out a loan in America so that we'd be able to buy a car, but that's gon out the window because we spent it all on living expenses. It doesn't help that I've been unable to find a job yet either.
Anyway, sorry for all the moaning. It is good to be back, and it's really good to be able to see all my friends again. I think that my ideal situation would be to go back, but be able to take all of my friends and family with me and bring about a change of government.
It's official, Barclaycard are EVIL!!!

See you on the other side
This time tomorrow I shall be on a flight back to Blighty.
The wait is finally over, and after a gruelling few weeks of packing and shipping we will soon be boarding an airplane home.
It's kind of a strange feeling, but I'm beginning to realise that I might actually miss Minneapolis a little bit (yes - even the sub-arctic temperatures). But it will be nice to be home and I am really looking forward to seeing friends and family again.
Sorry that I haven't been writing in my Blog too much lately but things have been extremely hectic since we found out that we were moving, but I promis to try to write more from the other side of the pond once we get our computer back!
This is hilarious
I don't think I've posted it before but I might have, if so I apologise.
US-VISIT: Instructions for Entering the US (Sort of)
Bloody Hell
I've just seen that somebody's planted a "God Bless America" lawn sign just outside the gate to our apartment building.
I don't know whether this was one of the residents or whether this was done by the management to make some sort of point. I however find that it is 'not aesthetically pleasing' and think I will request its removal.
Oooooh Handbags!
Just got a reply from Annonymous Management Company:
Dear Ben & Rebekah,
I am in receipt of your letter in regard to the removal of your flag from the balcony.
I understand that you believe this is a freedom of speech issue and I can respect the fact that you take pride in your national heritage. However, (Anonymous) Apartments is private property. (sic)
It would not matter to us what country the flag represents, it would need to be removed either way.
If you need further direction on your rights, please feel free to consult with an attorney. Otherwise, please call me if you need further information.
Sincerely,
Psycho hose be-ach,
Property Manager.
Oooooooooh.
Well of course I wrote a strongly worded letter in reply, watch this space...
It's the war of Independence all over again
Well folks, it's war in the Kent household.
Our appartment management people have instructed me to remove the British flag from our balcony as it is not "aesthetically pleasing". I see that once again the proverbial tea has been thrown into the proverbial Boston Harbour! This has got me so mad that it has caused me to write the following strongly worded letter:
"Dear Sir or Madam,
Thank you for your letter of October
17.
As per your request we have reluctantly removed the United Kingdom flag from our balcony.
I would be grateful if you
could provide us with a statement of policy regarding the display of National
Flags from {name of company deleted as they're american and they'd probably sue us or something} property, and whether you would also ask
for the removal of American Flags. In the absence of a written policy regarding
all flags, this could be construed as a freedom of speech issue.
I take great pride in my
national heritage and to be told that our national flag is not aesthetically
pleasing is highly offensive. The flag has been on display for three months
without complaint and I am curious as to why we have suddenly been asked to
remove it.
Yours sincerely....."
To tell the truth, the stuff about national heritage is pretty much bollocks, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna be pushed around by a bunch of....
Anyway, I'm almost certain that if it had been the stylish American flag adorning our balcony, they wouldn't have asked us to remove it; especially since it's tantamount to treason here not to display the biggest American flag possible.
I'll keep you up to date on the battle as it happens....
